PETER ROY BURGESS Passed away at Hastings Manor, Belleville, ON, on Monday, July 4, 2011 in his 87th year. Beloved husband for 64 years to Lorraine Burgess. Loving father of Franklin (Andrea) of Edmonton, AB, Matthew of Thailand, Geraldine of Knowlton, Quebec and Lee (Maureen) of Belleville, ON. Cherished grandfather of Peter, Adam, Cayley and Leah Burgess and Nicholas and Jacqueline McGovern. Predeceased by his sister Joan VanSickle (the late Harvey). Survived by his brother Bob (Sharon) of Calgary, AB. Peter was born in England and moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1928. He thoroughly enjoyed his 35 year career with CBC which saw him working in Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal where he was a pioneer in Canadian television engineering. He recently completed and self published an account of his memoirs. In 2004 Peter and Lorraine moved to Belleville to be closer to their youngest granddaughter. The family will receive friends at the BURKE FUNERAL HOME, 150 Church St., Belleville, ON, 613-968-6968 on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the Burke Chapel on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations by cheque to the Parkinsons Society would be appreciated by the family.
